In Process: Unpacking Artistic Practice
This exhibition shares the work of student artists to unpack the process of making art work, and to illustrate the fun and challenge of discovering new techniques. This exhibition combines the work of students from a painting and a drawing class in Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Fine Arts program.
The student artists in this show were asked to try things that were new and different, to experiment with techniques and styles that didn’t come naturally to them, and note the results. They were also asked to pay attention to the behaviours of the physical material used to create their works, (paper, canvas, paint, pencil, glue) and to see how that impacted their final works. The student artists in this exhibition are responding to the idea of process as the artistic practice itself.
These students warmly invite you to peer behind the scenes to share their insights and unpack the artistic process.
